The Executive Board of the Houston Association of School Administrators (HASA) is pleased to announce Shannon L. Verrett has joined us as the Executive Director of HASA.
Dr. Verrett joined as a member of the HASA executive team Monday, August 29, 2022. He was a member of HASA from September 2009 to March 2022. Dr. Verrett will replace Dr. Josephine Rice who served as HASA’s Executive Director for nearly five years.
Dr. Verrett is an experienced educator and advocate. He has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of New Orleans. During his career in Louisiana, he served in several roles. These included junior high principal, charter school principal, and early college principal. He also worked in various capacities in HISD including executive director, assistant superintendent, senior manager and manager. Dr. Verrett is very enthusiastic and talented. He has great ideas about what we can do to support and advocate more effectively on behalf of school-based and central office administrators.
