The Houston Association of School Administrators (HASA) believes the district should respect hard working teachers and front line staff. We do not support a salary freeze nor actions that will result in financial hardships for teachers and others. For years, HISD has made retaining quality teachers a priority. This proposed salary freeze does not support the district’s commitment to our staff. We strongly recommend that the HISD Board of Education reconsider the proposed salary freeze which is scheduled to be included on the next board agenda.
We resolve that HASA will work with the district in providing highly qualified teachers the financial security to remain in HISD so that they can continue to support our students and ensure students’ academic success. We recognize it is more important now than ever for employees in the district to stand strong and advocate tirelessly for equitable pay and economic justice. Our HISD community expects and deserves that the promises made for quality of life and financial security are honored by HISD.
